    HY-SAVE’s technology, particularly the use of LPA (Liquid Pressure Amplification) pumps, is designed to enhance the efficiency of refrigeration systems while also addressing the common issue of scale build-up in water-cooled systems. By reducing the compressor’s discharge temperature by 50K (180°F), the LPA pumps help to prevent scale from forming on the condenser tubes within cooling towers and water-cooled condensers as the discharge temperatures are below the temperature that scale forms.

    The implementation of LPA (Liquid Pressure Amplification) technology by HY-SAVE and Dixell (Asia) in the supermarket sector across Thailand has led to significant energy savings. Despite the high outdoor ambient temperatures, which can reach up to 40 degrees Celsius (105F) during the day and 30 degrees at night, Dixell (Asia) has reported an impressive 15% to 25% improvement in refrigeration efficiency.

    The key to this efficiency boost is the delivery of 100% liquid refrigerant to all showcases and display cabinets, even those located over 100/200 meters away from the Copeland Scroll compressor racks. This method ensures that the refrigerant is flash gas free, allowing the compressor suction super-heat temperatures to be adjusted back within the compressor’s optimal operating range.

    Such adjustments have a profound impact on the compressor’s isotropic compression, resulting in less Total Heat Rejection (THR) by the condensers. This leads to lower condensing temperatures, lower evaporating temperatures, and ultimately, cooler operating temperatures, which translate into higher efficiency gains.

    How to replace R22 with MO99 guideline

    summary – steps to convert R-22 to MO99

    The following provides a summary of the basic retrofit steps for ISCEON® MO99.
    (Detailed discussion of each step is provided in this bulletin.)
    1. Establish baseline performance with existing refrigerant. (See retrofit checklist (attached))
    2. Remove all the old (R22 or other) refrigerant from the system into a recovery cylinder. Weigh the amount removed.
    3. Replace the filter drier and critical elastomeric seals/gaskets.
    4. Evacuate system and check for leaks.
    5. Charge with ISCEON® MO99.

    6.Remove liquid only from charging cylinder.The initial charge amount should be approximately 85% of the standard charge for R22. The final charge amount will be approximately 95%.

    7. Start up system, determine suction line superheat and adjust TXV and/or charge size if necessary to achieve the optimum value.
    8. Monitor oil levels in compressor. Add oil as required to maintain proper levels
    9. Label system showing the refrigerant (and any replacement lubricant) used. Update system log-book.
    10. Retrofit Complete, have a beer.
